calendar error

I don't usually talk about this subject on the internet, I consider it taboo, but these are extraordinary circumstances.

Due to a clerical error in the universal data repository, this year the entire month of March (3/10) will be considered my birthday (3/10).

I intend to have thirty-one parties. They will each last all day long, and they will take place in the immediate vicinity of wherever I happen to be. There will generally not be cake. You're all invited.

related. I am turning 29. Yes, I am that young, I know you forgot. [or, for the other half of my audience, yes I am that old, I know you forgot.]
29 is pretty close to 30. I have heard that some of you had (have) lists of items that you made sure to accomplish before you stopped being twentysomething. I intend to do as many of those things as possible, so, uh, what are they?

if anyone sees my twin brother Sergio Garcia, let him know: I assume his birthday is similarly afflicted.

Perform dance onstage.

[identity profile] jes5199.livejournal.com 2010-03-01 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
shit! well, that's terrifying. okay. hrm.

[identity profile] akatchoom.livejournal.com 2010-03-01 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. The other goal is to publish some writing.

The dancing seems much less scary to me.

I kinda published something recently. For a fairly low value of published. It continues to be nerve-wracking that someone might at any moment pick up a zine with my stupid article in it and then have an opinion about it

Very nerve-wracking.

I figure, with dance, I get props just for getting up on stage. With writing, I had better be good for the sheer audacity of thinking anyone might want to read my own personal arrangement of words.

hey! i've done both of those!

My primary goal prior to turning 30, was to live for at least 29 years. In many ways, this proved more difficult to accomplish than you may believe.

Do those of us who pretty accurately knew your age exist in a singularity?

yes. You are all stored inside the black hole at Sagittarius A.

I'm generally not such a long term planner - recent goals of mine have included "be able to run 5k by the time it's nice enough to do so outside" (I might give up on this) and "do yoga 5 days a week for a month" (success! February is the shortest month), weigh 199lbs by 2009 the end of 2009 2010 summer, and the recurring goal of getting out of debt (I keep achieving this one only to have to do it again).

Once upon a time I had a list of things to do by the time I hit 25, but a) I misplaced it and b) I keep modifying the goals on it. I think I've hit most of them though - learn to tap dance, live with my friend meagan, backpack across Europe, finish my degree, become (mostly) vegetarian, live in another province territory.

Maybe you should put canoeing or camping or alaska or snowshoeing or frozen lake walking or bannock or meth on your list.

I definitely have other lists of short and long-term goals that I *mostly* ignore
that's a lot of yoga! I want to do some yoga.

Well, when you come visit we'll go do a couple classes and you can learn to do a headstand at least.

I can't be late now!
It's only the third day of
your birthday.Good party?

I never had a
list. It's still unclear to me
whether i have goals.

[identity profile] jes5199.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
today's party included noticing old friends across that crowded bus, far out of signal reach, and several other flavors of silence.
yesterday's party included gossiping about work over drinks and also meeting a real life political refugee.
the first party included - getting hazy, let me check my notes - new geeks with unexpected connections.

but cousin, I disbelieve that you didn't have a list. I have evidence.

[identity profile] ideath.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
That wasn't on a list, though... it just seemed time. Ok, you can call it a list. I'd be sad to know that was the only thing on it, but i have no idea what else would be.

Hello! Happy birthday again! This is one place on the Internet I know I have met you. I enjoyed meeting you in person, too, either again or for the first time. :)
