Nov. 14th, 1999

I'm moving some of my old content over here as E2 seems farther and farther from home.

I wrote some stuff on everything2, in 1999 and for a couple years after that. You won't find it there, it's all been deleted. But, I'm reproducing some of the daylogs and other personal nonsense here on my livejournal.
Anything that is dated "November 14th, 1999" is actually older, but the original date was lost in a database migration.

November 14th. Seems like as good a day as any to start this story.

Welcome to my life.

[3:00am].

Phone rings several times before I get up from my desk and get it from beside [my roommate's bed].

he's [a light sleeper]-- he suddenly starts moving around and making [noises that aren't quite words].

it's an [ex-girlfriend]. she's nervous about some decisions she's made and [generally overwhelmed with life].

she wants to talk to [someone who will reassure her]... i probably wasn't [the best choice].

[she's whispering]. i can barely hear her. i miss some of what she says but try to pretend i didn't. it makes her think that [i'm not listening].

she decides she should go, even though she doesn't [feel any better].

we exchange "[i love yous]", and [say goodnight]

there's a long pause [before either of us hang up]. it feels like [there's something else to say].

slowly towards the button that would end it. hesitantly push it.

last possible moment- her voice

"Je?" Beep! Silence.

During the summer I hung out in a [druggie's apartment]. We would sit [around and smoke] and talk.

One day, [the Indian] shows up later than usual.

"I have [Michael]'s new girl outside. She's never been here before, so everyone be really nice to her. Her name is Jessica B---."

"THAT BITCH!" [Marsha] jumps up.

The Indian looks [like he's been shot], he stumbles backwards [surprised and horrified].

We all work to calm Marsha down, and eventually [she promises to be civil].

The Indian leads Jessica in. She's clearly [out of place] here, there's some chance she's never been in a room that was [such a mess] before. She's barely stepped into the living room, when Marsha [attacks her].

Marsha seems to think Jessica has been [making up bad things] about her and telling them to Marsha's brother.

Surprisingly Jessica stayed calm "i dont know what you're talking about, and i didnt think i did anything, but i'll keep that in mind..."

Later I was impressed again, when one of us tried to [pass her a bowl], and she politely refused.

Ahh. it's what my box calls itself when it's [running Linux] (almost all the time)

The name comes from my [habit] of wearing [Nike] tee-shirts and [tennis shoes].

Although i do like [Reebok] and [ADIDAS], too.

It's [kindof odd] since [i hate all forms of competition].

I think the [music] was what convinced me to stay with the [religion] for so long. Something about [art] that makes [things look beautiful] no matter what the [subject matter] is.

You go out of your way to [do laundry] before you leave [campus]. You make sure you have 4 of each [article of clothing]-- [one complete set] [for each day] plus one set [just in case]. You make sure you have a [towel] in that load of laundy (You know how important a towel is!).

Then you leave. see: [The perfect way to spend friday night (sarcasm)]. Eventually you come [back to campus] and realise that you are wearing [the same thing] you were wearing [when you left]- even the same socks. [Sigh]
