Jun. 22nd, 2002 01:15 pmI saw a movie. It was cool in a waay-too-new-age-for-the-average-kid sort of way.
That Garret guy is friggin annoying
Pizza is bad for you
That guy who wants to sleep with Van seems OK. He just talks about wanting to sleep with Van slightly more than I care to listen to.
Van started ranting about drugs.
His argument comes down to "Drugs kill braincells, and that's bad"
Welcome to Ethics Class. let's break this down:
Drugs kill brain cells.
Maybe. I'm not convinced. Everyone seemed to think smoke restricts oxygen to the brain which kills brain cells, if that was true, you'd be much worse off if you held your breath for two minutes.
Whatever. I'll skip his one.
Killing brain cells is self-destructive
Your brain has a certain amount of plasticity. Brain cells die all the time. Every time you hit your head, or sneeze really hard, or sleep too much, or get really emotional, or exist in the real world for a period of time, brain cells will die.
You're brain is designed (or evolved, rather) to take a little damage every now and then.
Also- you'll feel pretty silly if you've been avoiding the Pot all your life, and then have a stroke or something.
Self-destructive behavior is wrong
Do i really have to argue about this? Isn't just stating the words enough for you to start to realize it doesn't quite add up?
"Maybe self-improvement isn’t the answer. Maybe self-destruction
is the answer" - fight club
and from the Principia Discordia
In the year 1166 B.C., a malcontented hunchbrain by the name of Greyface, got it into his head that the universe was as humorless as he, and he began to teach that play was sinful because it contradicted the ways of Serious Order. "Look at all the order around you," he said. And from that, he deluded honest men to believe that reality was a straightjacket affair and not the happy romance as men had known it.
It is not presently understood why men were so gullible at that particular time, for absolutely no one thought to observe all the disorder around them and conclude just the opposite. But anyway, Greyface and his followers took the game of playing at life more seriously than they took life itself and were known even to destroy other living beings whose ways of life differed from their own.
The unfortunate result of this is that mankind has since been suffering from a psychological and spiritual imbalance. Imbalance causes frustration, and frustration causes fear. And fear makes for a bad trip. Man has been on a bad trip for a long time now.
It is called THE CURSE OF GREYFACE.
